Shiza Shahid — a founder of the Malala Fund, which supports education for girls — is also a co-founder of Our Place, a direct-to-consumer online start-up. Our Place now sells the Always Pan, a deep (2.6 quart) sauté pan, designed to be used for any cuisine. It’s cast aluminum for conductivity, and has a ceramic nonstick interior, a domed lid, an efficient steamer basket and wooden spatula. It is coated with an easily cleaned matte silicone finish. The name comes from the company’s contention that it can be used for everything, but since it cannot go into the oven, that’s not quite the case. Ceramic dinner plates, bowls and glasses that stack are also sold. The company supports nonprofit organizations like initiatives that fight hunger.
Always Pan, $145; drinking glasses and main plates, $50 each for four; side bowls, $45 for four, fromourplace.com.
