Roma Bhatia and Helge Immo Lehmann were married June 8 at the Plummer House in Rochester, Minn. Ronur Murali Bhattar, a Hindu priest, officiated.
The bride, 28, and groom, 33, are third-year resident physicians in internal medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
In July, the bride will begin a general medicine fellowship at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Harvard Medical School, from which she will also receive a master’s degree in public health from Harvard. She graduated from Emory University and received a medical degree from the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine in Rochester.
She is the daughter of Gori NMI Bhatia and Naresh G. Bhatia of Farmington Hills, Mich. The bride’s father is a senior accountant for Wayne State University in Detroit. Her mother retired as accountant in New Delhi.
The groom, who is known as Immo, received a medical degree from Otto-von-Guericke University in Magdeburg, Germany. In July, he is to begin a fellowship in cardiovascular medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
He is a son of Christine Lehmann of Braunschweig, Germany, and the late Michael O. Linke. The groom’s mother is a retired associate professor of theology at the Leibniz University of Hanover, Germany. His father retired as an associate principal and a founder of Integrierte Gesamtschule Braunschweig, a school for students from fifth grade through high school. He also taught a course that provided various teaching methods to students at Leibniz University who majored in education, helping them become more effective teachers upon graduation.
The couple met through friends in Rochester in September 2012.
