In August 2022, Jennifer Leigh Tullock was at the film premiere for “Spirited,” which she had a role in, when Marie Lenia Ronn tapped her on the shoulder.
“I turned around, and when I did, I was looking at this beautiful person in a very smart outfit,” Ms. Tullock said. “I realized immediately that she was looking at me like we knew each other.”
But she couldn’t place how she knew Ms. Ronn, who was wearing an all-black outfit. She thought: “Does she work in this film? Is she a publicist? Is she a stylist?” She was blanking.
Ms. Ronn, 44, realized Ms. Tullock did not recognize her. “Maybe I’ll see you at the after-party,” she said, before walking away.
Then it struck Ms. Tullock, 40. The two had matched on the dating app Hinge months before. They had even planned a date, but Ms. Tullock, who had been living on a farm in upstate New York, couldn’t make it down to Manhattan that day because her water well broke. After that, they both got busy and lost touch.
Ms. Tullock immediately felt bad and worried Ms. Ronn thought she “dates a thousand people,” she said. “In reality I was sleep deprived.”
