The dance floor is a hallmark of a wedding — it’s where guests can let loose and memories are often made.
Of course, not all music at a wedding comes from the party portion. There are also those vibe-setting, lovey-dovey tracks that play throughout the event, and those are just as significant as the dance songs.
But it takes careful consideration to make a playlist that will get people, regardless of demographics, in the mood for love.
As dance floors are getting packed again, we wanted to put together a playlist that anyone can reference to help set the tone.
Some of my favorite tracks to hear at a wedding include “Turn Me On” by Kevin Lyttle and “Lose Control” by Missy Elliott for hype songs; “Int’l Players Anthem (I Choose You)” by UGK and “Essence” by WizKid for some feel good tunes; “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” by Whitney Houston for a singalong; and “Love” by Musiq Soulchild for a tear streamer.
I’m from Bangladesh, and we often play Bollywood music at our receptions — I’m fond of hearing “Mauja Hi Mauja” and “Ishq Kameena.”
What are your favorite songs to hear at a wedding? Which songs get you excited, or emotional, at the wedding hall? We want to hear from you, and we’ll compile submissions to create an eclectic wedding playlist.
We will use your contact information only to follow up with you. We may include songs you submit in a crowdsourced playlist, but we won’t include other parts of your response in a story without getting in touch with you first.
