Veraliz Mercado and Al-Amir Haniff Jordan were married March 9 at Bellerose Assembly of God in Bellerose, Queens. Pastor Dominick J. Cotignola, affiliated with the Pentecostal Assemblies of God and the senior pastor at the church, officiated.
Mrs. Jordan, 30, is a building administrator at the Gilman Management Company, a property manager based in Great Neck, N.Y. She also works part time as a worship minister responsible for the music at Full Gospel Church of Island Park in Island Park, N.Y. She graduated from Southeastern University in Lakeland, Fla.
She is a daughter of Luz Celenia Mercado and Benjamin Mercado of Queens Village, Queens. The bride’s father is a building superintendent in Midtown Manhattan. Her mother has been a stay-at-home parent.
Mr. Jordan, 34, is a publishing distribution center representative at The New York Times Company in College Point, Queens, where he helps monitor the transmission of pages electronically to the company’s various print sites. He graduated from New York City College of Technology and received a master’s degree in graphic communications management at N.Y.U.
He is a son of Maureen L. Jordan of Manhattan. The groom’s mother is a school aide at Public School 191 in Manhattan.
The couple were introduced in 2017 through Coffee Meets Bagel, and about a month later they met at a Starbucks in New Hyde Park, N.Y.
