Amid the uproar surrounding Serena Williams’s U.S. Open defeat and the clamor of the primary elections, the shows in New York this season were calibrated to cut through the city’s noise — with more noise. Prabal Gurung’s collection was heavy on suits in divergent vertical halves, wearable schisms in kaleidoscopic colors. Eckhaus Latta’s show — which celebrated the bold and brave with materials such as stonewashed denim and mesh — was soundtracked by children banging on pots and waving tambourines. Meanwhile, Rodarte made its triumphant return with a collection of otherworldly gowns and garlands of real roses that was paraded through the New York City Marble Cemetery. Here, we round up the highlights from the spring 2019 shows, as captured by T’s photographers.
