It’s about the time for the influx of gift boxes. Among the thousands of them on offer, there are two that are particularly well focused from Rogue Creamery in Central Point, Ore., a dairy that specializes in the blue cheeses (and Cheddars). The cultures for the blue are based on a recipe from Roquefort, France. The new Blue Christmas box contains a quarter-wheel (about 19 ounces) of the dairy’s prizewinning Rogue River Blue Cheese, a buttery, herbaceous cheese with a touch of tyrosine crunch wrapped in grape leaves, along with accouterments, including a cutting board. Another option would be the dairy’s sampler of five blues: Bluehorn, Caveman, Crater Lake, Oregon and Smokey, without the Rogue River.
