NEW YORK, September 11, 2019—All-American optimism was the theme of Michael Kors’ Spring 2020 runway show, which took place this morning at 10 AM at the Duggal Greenhouse in Brooklyn. From the show space, which was transformed into a green, sun-dappled park, to a moving musical performance by the Young People’s Chorus of New York City, the show was a celebration of the American dream.
“I am a native New Yorker and I wanted this show to highlight the strength and optimism and can-do attitude of our city,” said Michael Kors. “The collection explores the balance of pragmatism and charm and power and romance that is at the core of American fashion. It is a celebration of the diversity of American style and beauty.”
After arriving at the Duggal Greenhouse, guests were invited to step inside a special photo set offering a stylized take on a classic picnic. They then took their seats on benches inside the runway show venue, which had been transformed into a park using live maple, ash and oak trees rented from Long Island area nurseries.
This year’s runway show featured a performance by the Young People’s Chorus of New York City, conducted by Francisco J. Nunez. On a mission to provide children of all cultural and economic backgrounds with a music education, the chorus seeks to fulfill each child’s potential while enriching the community.
The Spring 2020 Michael Kors Collection runway show was livestreamed direct from NYC to Michael Kors’ international audience across MichaelKors.com, YouTube Live, Twitter LIVE, Instagram Live and Facebook LIVE, as well as on LINE, Kakao and Weibo. Other features designed to amplify the Fashion Week experience for fans included:
Shop the Front Row: This season, fans are able to shop the front-row looks of Something Navy’s Arielle Charnas, wearing Michael Kors Collection, and style influencer Brittany Xavier, wearing MICHAEL Michael Kors, directly on Instagram through the platform’s new shopping tools. Their ready-to-wear and accessories are also available on the brand’s e-commerce sites and in stores, and can be found on the brand’s additional social platforms, including: Instagram Stories, Facebook, Twitter, LINE, Kakao and WeChat.
Behind-The-Scenes and Front Row Stories: Those who follow “MichaelKors” on Instagram and tune into the brand’s Instagram Stories this week will find exclusive behind-the-scenes content, model moments, show details and more. Fans can also get in on the fun by accessing the brand’s GIPHY stickers and applying them to their own Instagram Stories through the platform’s GIPHY feature. In addition, guests were able to join the conversation on Snapchat with a special Michael Kors NYFW Geofilter.
Facebook Messenger Experience: The brand’s Facebook Messenger users were reminded to watch the show live on Facebook through a special push notification sent via the brand’s chatbot experience. Throughout the day, Facebook users are also able to interact with the bot to re-watch the show and see a behind-the-scenes video. Later in the week, they will also be able to shop the front-row looks seen on Arielle Charnas and Brittany Xavier.
