Susanna Hayes Kvam and Christopher Henry Pettingill Norris were married Sept. 14 in Newport, R.I. The Rev. Nathan J.A. Humphrey, an Episcopal priest, officiated at Castle Hill Inn.
The bride and groom met through a mutual friend when both were students at Colgate, from which each graduated magna cum laude.
Mrs. Norris, 26, is a relationship-development manager at Lord, Abbett & Company, an investment management firm in Jersey City. She is also a member of the junior board of New York City Autism Charter School, which has campuses in Manhattan.
She is a daughter of Sharon Hancher Kvam and Jeffrey C. Kvam of Kenilworth, Ill. The bride’s father is a managing partner of SE Capital Partners, a private equity firm in Chicago. The bride’s mother is a member of the women’s boards at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Northwestern University and the Hadley Institute for the Blind and Visually Impaired, in Winnetka, Ill.
The groom, who is 28 and known as Kit, is an associate for high-yield debt in Manhattan at Houlihan Lokey, an investment bank. At Colgate, he was also a member of Colgate 13, a men’s a cappella group. He is a mentor for City Squash, an after-school enrichment program in the Bronx and Brooklyn for middle-school and high-school students.
He is a son of Sonja L. Pettingill and Grant Norris, both of Philadelphia. The groom’s mother was until 2002 an adjunct professor of geology and the associate director for continuing education at Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pa. His father is the practice leader for an enterprise software platform at DXC Technologies, an information technology consultancy in McLean, Va. His. The groom is a stepson of Elizabeth S. Norris, who was a stay-at-home parent and is now a freelance yoga instructor and meeting planner in Philadelphia, and of Dr. Steven A. Silber, an internist who retired as a vice president for research and development, in Titusville, N.J., for Johnson & Johnson.
