Summer McClain Delaney and Nicholas Lowell Fineman were married Sept. 21 at the Cathedral Church of SS. Peter and Paul in Washington. The Very Rev. Randolph M. Hollerith, the cathedral’s dean, performed the ceremony, with Msgr. Peter J. Vaghi and Rabbi Kenneth B. Block taking part.
Ms. Delaney, 26, is a digital host and producer for the website of WPIX-TV, an affiliate of the CW Television Network in New York. She graduated from Northwestern.
She is a daughter of April L. McClain-Delaney and John Delaney of Potomac, Md. The bride’s father, a Democratic candidate for the presidency, represented Maryland in the United States House of Representatives from 2013 to 2019. Her mother is a director of Common Sense Media, an organization that provides information to families on how media affects the well-being of children. She is also a trustee of Northwestern.
Mr. Fineman, 27, is a news and segment producer in New York at “Today,” the NBC morning show. He graduated from Washington University in St. Louis.
He is the son of Amy Nathan and Howard Fineman of Washington. The groom’s mother is a senior legal counsel in the Federal Communications Commission’s economics and analytics office in Washington. His father is a political analyst in Washington for both NBC News and MSNBC, and is also the author of “The Thirteen American Arguments: Enduring Debates That Define and Inspire Our Country” (Random House, 2009).
The couple met in 2008 at the church where they were married, during a high school chorus concert in which both were performing. “I had seen photos of her on social media with a friend who said we should meet, and I recognized her and introduced myself,” he said. The two had their first date (they went to see the movie “Up,” in Washington) the following summer.
