Steven Mark Leonardi and Matthew Joseph Garrido were married Dec. 7 at Battleground Country Club, in Manalapan, N.J. Kathryn R. Parsons, Mr. Garrido’s sister, officiated, having become a Universal Life minister for the occasion.
Mr. Leonardi (left), 28, is a manager for associate communications at the PVH Corporation, the New York-based parent company of Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger and other apparel companies. He graduated from Monmouth University in West Long Branch, N.J.
He is the son of Anne Runfola Leonardi and Mark A. Leonardi, both of Marlboro, N.J. The groom’s mother is the area manager in Neptune, N.J., for KinderCare Education, a child care business. His father is a vice president for money markets in the New York office of ICAP, a British financial services company.
Mr. Garrido, 28, is an agency account manager in New York at Indeed, which operates a job-search website. He graduated from Kutztown University in Kutztown, Pa.
He is a son of Laurie Cusick Garrido and Donald J. Garrido of Wall Township, N.J. The groom’s mother is a mathematics teacher at Cedar Drive Middle School in Colts Neck, N.J. His father is a machinist at the printing plant in College Point, Queens, of The New York Times.
The couple met in 2015 at a park in Holmdel, N.J., while Mr. Leonardi was walking his Maltese dog, Peyton, and Mr. Garrido was walking his family’s dog, a mutt named Teddy. During a 20-minute conversation, they realized that they had mutual friends. The two had their first date, at a restaurant in Asbury Park, N.J., a couple of weeks later.
The couple will go by the surname Leonardi-Garrido.
