Stephanie Paula Funt and David Aaron Back are to be married Aug. 18 at the Clubhouse of the Presidio Golf Course in San Francisco. Rabbi Jessica Zimmerman Graf is to officiate.
Ms. Funt, 30, is the daughter of Amy M. Funt and Peter T. Funt of Pebble Beach, Calif. She is an eviction defense staff attorney with the Homeless Advocacy Project of the Justice and Diversity Center of the San Francisco Bar Association. She graduated from Wheaton College in Norton, Mass., and received a law degree from Golden Gate University in San Francisco.
The bride’s father is a writer whose work appears in USA Today, The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times, and served as the host of “Candid Camera,” the television series. The bride’s mother retired as a board member of the Carmel Unified School District board of education. Previously, she worked in Manhattan at HBO as the marketing liaison with cable program guides throughout the United States.
The bride’s grandfather, Allen Funt, was the creator and host of “Candid Camera.”
Mr. Back, 33, is a son of Dr. Andrea L. Winthrop and Brian A. Back of Kingston, Ontario. He graduated from McGill University in Montreal, Quebec. He is an augmented reality/virtual reality developer at VMware in Palo Alto, Calif.
The groom’s mother is a pediatric surgeon and professor of surgery at Queen’s University in Kingston. His father retired as the executive director of Earthroots, a conservation organization in Toronto.
The couple met in January 2016 and had their first date at the Alembic, a cocktail bar in the Haight Ashbury neighborhood of San Francisco.
