Sophie Lane Snyder and Jay Charles Cavanagh were married May 18 at the Wynn, a casino and hotel in Las Vegas. Spencer W. Pratt, the bride’s brother-in-law, officiated, having been certified by Clark County in Nevada for this event.
Mrs. Cavanagh, 33, is a marketing manager of Land O’ Lakes, the dairy products company in Arden Hills, Minn. She graduated magna cum laude from Carleton College and received an M.B.A. from the University of Minnesota.
She is a daughter of Lane R. Kirchner and Michael C. Snyder of St. Paul. The bride’s father was the managing partner, until the end of 2016, in Meshbesher & Spence, a law firm in Minneapolis, and was then of counsel until 2018. Her mother, also a lawyer, worked in the civil litigation department of the Ramsey County attorney’s office in St. Paul, and then became a stay-at-home parent.
Mr. Cavanagh, 40, is a vice president for institutional bond sales in the investments unit, in Minneapolis, of Wells Fargo, the San Francisco bank. He graduated from the University of South Florida.
He is a son of Mary H. Johnson of Side Lake, Minn., and Charles L. Cavanagh of Perham, Minn. The groom’s mother manages a Farmers Insurance agency in Hibbing, Minn. His father is the president of United Community Bank, in Perham. The groom is also a stepson of Gene Johnson.
The couple met through a mutual friend in 2016 in Minneapolis, who suggested that their mutual love for the game of golf might be the basis for a relationship. He sent her a series of Facebook messages, beginning in 2014, and in 2016, she finally agreed to go out with him. “My persistence paid off,” he said.
