He currently serves as part of San Antonio’s Interfaith Welcome Coalition, a network of faith and community organizations that supports immigrants, asylum seekers and refugees in San Antonio.
The groom graduated from Hamilton College in Clinton, N.Y., and received a master’s degree in French from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He also holds a Ph.D. in French and immigration studies from Rice.
He is the son of Susan Bartles Stranges and Gary B. Stranges of Eden, N.Y. The groom’s mother retired as an art teacher at Fredonia Elementary School in Fredonia, N.Y. His father retired as a writer and copy editor for The Buffalo News.
The groom’s first marriage ended in divorce.
The couple met through Match.com in 2017, and had to postpone their first date for a week because of Hurricane Harvey.
