Harry Tomás Rimalower was riding out a perfect storm on Dec. 18, 2022, when he matched with Margaret Anne Hunt on the dating app Bumble.
“I was getting a divorce, a new job and a new apartment,” said Mr. Rimalower, 36, a lawyer at the Los Angeles office of Hanson Bridgett. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in visual and environmental studies from Harvard, and received a law degree from the University of Chicago.
That evening, when he received a notification that they had matched, he was watching a Netflix show with his parents at their condo in Beverly Hills, where he was staying while on the hunt for a new apartment. (He found one a week later.)
“Hi” is all Dr. Hunt, 38, a psychologist who goes by Molly, messaged him on the app, which requires women to make the first move.
