Sarah Eileen McCue and Maxwell Bernard Kaplan were married June 22 at the home of the bride’s parents in Rye, N.H. Nicholas E. Milne, a friend of the couple, officiated, having received a license from New Hampshire to solemnize the marriage.
Ms. McCue, 32, is a freelance website designer in Ottawa. She graduated from Simmons College.
She is a daughter of Eileen Behan McCue and David E. McCue. The bride’s father, a marriage and family therapist, is a partner in Portsmouth Psychiatric Associates in Portsmouth, N.H. Her mother is a registered and licensed dietitian in the Hampton, N.H., office of Core Physicians, a group medical practice, and is also the author of “The Baby Food Bible” (Ballantine, 2008).
Mr. Kaplan, 30, is a policy adviser for international multilateral matters at Fisheries and Oceans Canada, a government ministry in Ottawa. He graduated from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland and received a doctoral degree in biological oceanography from M.I.T.
He is a son of Susan M. Krever and William E. Kaplan of Toronto. The groom’s mother is a residential sales and rentals agent for Chestnut Park Real Estate in Toronto. His father is a labor law mediator and arbitrator in Toronto and is also the author of “Why Dissent Matters” (McGill-Queen’s University Press, 2017).
The couple met in September 2013 at a restaurant and bar in Cambridge, Mass., where she struck up a conversation with him.
