Sarah Chenoweth Kenney and James Paul Nigel Martin were married May 4 at Christ and St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in New York. The Rev. L. Kathleen Liles performed the ceremony, with the bride’s brother-in-law, the Rev. Gregory B. Johnston, also an Episcopal priest, taking part.
Ms. Kenney, 33, is a Latin, English and test-preparation tutor at Tutor Associates in New York. She is also an actor and a founding member of the Sun Apparatus Theater Company, which had its most recent performance in 2017 at the Camden Fringe in London, and is to produce “Unprescribed,” an original work, in September in at the Kelme Cultural Center in Lithuania. She graduated from Harvard, received a certificate in professional acting at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School in Bristol, England, and received a master’s degree in advanced theater practice from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London.
She is a daughter of Pamela Kimball Kenney and David A. Kenney of New York. The bride’s father is a managing director, overseeing client relations, at the CSM Capital Corporation, an asset manager in New York. Her mother is a consultant who guides high school students through the college application process, and was a stay-at-home parent after teaching grade school.
Mr. Martin, 30, is known professionally in England as James Barbour. He is an actor and founding member of Mulligan Theater Company in Falmouth, Cornwall, England. The company produced “The Forgiveness Collection” a season of original work in two shows at Vault Festival in London in March 2018. He is also a member of the stage crew at the Almeida Theater in London. He graduated from the University of Leicester in England and received a master’s degree in acting from East 15 Acting School in Loughton, England.
He is the son of Pamela D. Barber and J. Keith Martin of Milton Keynes, England. The groom’s mother is in charge of defense business development at the Open University in Milton Keynes, England. His father, an automotive engineer, retired as a lecturer in the mechanical engineering department at the Open University.
The couple met in 2014 while performing at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in Scotland.
