Sara Danielle Muchnick and Isaac Zafarani are to be married Sept. 8 at Pier 60 at Chelsea Piers, an events space in New York. Rabbi Ethan H. Witkovsky is to officiate, with the groom’s three brothers, Rabbis Eli, David and Ariel Zafarani, to participate.
Ms. Muchnick, 27, is a copywriter at Pereira O’Dell, an advertising agency in San Francisco. She graduated cum laude from Tulane.
She is the daughter of Susan J. Schwartz and Howard W. Muchnick of New York. The bride’s father, a tax and business lawyer, is the lead partner in the New York law firm Muchnick, Golieb & Golieb. Her mother, a litigator, is a partner in the New York law firm Foley & Lardner. Until June she was a trustee of the Solomon Schechter School of Manhattan, a Jewish day school in New York for kindergarten to Grade 8.
Mr. Zafarani, 32, is a founder of EXO Technologies, a developer of GPS software in Tel Aviv and San Mateo, Calif., that was acquired in 2018 by the Lear Corporation, a supplier of automotive seating and electrical systems. He is now the director of product in San Mateo for the vehicle positioning team. He graduated with a degree in finance and another in economics from Queens College and received an M.B.A. in entrepreneurship at Technion-Israel Institute of Technology’s Tel Aviv campus.
He is a son of Mazal Zafarani and Jacob Zafarani of Willowbrook, Staten Island. His mother was a stay-at-home parent. His father is an importer of consumer goods, which he sells online.
The couple met in November 2015 at the Dancing Camel Brewery and Bar in Tel Aviv when Ms. Muchnick, working and living in Tel Aviv at the time, stopped in for comedy night. Mr. Zafarani — then a bartender by night and working on a technology start-up by day — served her a beer, and then invited her to a Sabbath dinner with about 20 guests at his apartment.
