Dr. Sara DeReath Collins and Christopher Lanier Jenkins were married June 8 at the InterContinental Washington D.C. — the Wharf. William Harris, a Universal Life minister, officiated.
Dr. Collins, 43, is an interventional cardiologist for Capital Cardiology Consultants in Washington. She graduated from Brown and received a medical degree from Meharry Medical College in Nashville.
She is a daughter of Paula R. Collins and Charles M. Collins of San Francisco. The bride’s father is the president and chief executive of the Y.M.C.A. of San Francisco. Her mother is a real estate developer for WDG Ventures, a development and consulting firm based in San Francisco.
Mr. Jenkins, 48, is a politics editor in Washington at The Washington Post. He is currently on sabbatical. He graduated from Oberlin College in Oberlin, Ohio, and received a master’s degree in journalism from the University of California, Berkeley.
He is the son of Adelbert H. Jenkins of Oberlin and the late Betty L. Jenkins. His father, who is retired, was a professor of psychology at N.Y.U. The groom’s mother was a librarian for the City University of New York.
The couple met in July 2017 on a blind date.
