Samantha Ivy Melnick and Jonathan Schaefler were married Dec. 7 at the Gramercy Park Hotel in New York. Rabbi Jordan Millstein officiated.
The bride, 34, is a genetic counselor at California Cryobank in Los Angeles, where she coordinates genetic screening for sperm and egg donors. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and received a master’s degree in genetic counseling from Long Island University Post.
She is a daughter of Debra S. Melnick and Dr. Marc L. Melnick of Englewood, N.J. The bride’s father is a dentist in private practice in Englewood, and is also a clinical assistant professor at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine. Her mother is a school psychologist at Lincoln Elementary School in Bergenfield, N.J.
The groom, 37, is a managing director on the real estate development and capital markets team of Newmark Knight Frank, a real estate brokerage and management firm in San Francisco. He graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, and received a joint law degree/M.B.A. from the University of Southern California.
He is a son of Natalie H. Schaefler of Pacific Palisades, Calif., and the late Kenneth R. Schaefler. The groom’s mother is a retired elementary-school teacher who taught in the Beverly Hills Unified School District. His father was the director of psychological services and special education for the Jewish Federation of Los Angeles.
The couple met in December 2017 through the dating app Bumble.
