Rex David Isenberg and Matthew Samuel Cohen are to be married Sept. 2 at the Yale Club in New York. Dane P. Isenberg, ordained by the American Marriage Ministries and a brother of Dr. Isenberg, officiated, with Naomi R. Cohen, a sister of Mr. Cohen, participating in a ceremony incorporating Jewish traditions.
Dr. Isenberg (left), 31, works as a senior analyst at the Hypothesis Group, an insights and strategy agency in Los Angeles, where he leads consumer research studies for music, entertainment and technology brands. He graduated cum laude from Yale, and received a Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts, both in classical composition, from the Manhattan School of Music.

Mr. Cohen, 30, is a senior researcher on the consumer insights team at Netflix in Los Angeles, where he leads global research studies for Netflix original series. He graduated with two degrees, one in brain and cognitive sciences and the other in comparative media studies from M.I.T. He received an M.B.A. from N.Y.U.
He is a son of Edith Liwszyc Cohen and Richard J. Cohen of Newton, Mass. Dr. Cohen is the Whitaker professor in Biomedical Engineering at M.I.T., where he conducts cardiovascular research and teaches courses on biomedical entrepreneurship. He also is a consultant focusing on biomedical companies, including Sirona Medical Technologies of Windsor, Conn., and of which he is a founder.
The couple met on JDate in 2010 shortly after each graduated from college. In March 2017, Mr. Cohen proposed at a surprise 30th birthday party he gave for Dr. Isenberg, with a guest appearance by the Yale Whiffenpoofs, the a cappella group, of which Dr. Isenberg had been a member while at Yale. After they sang Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream,” the couple’s song, Mr. Cohen said to him: “If it weren’t for you, I would likely never have set foot in an opera house, and if it weren’t for me, you would never have understood the cultural significance of Britney Spears.’’
