Preetha Chakrabarti and David Lee Stroupe were married Sept. 14 at the Four Seasons in Baltimore. The Rev. Nancy Sehested, a Baptist minister, officiated at a ceremony combining Hindu and Christian traditions.
Ms. Chakrabarti, 38, is a term law clerk for the First Circuit Court of Appeals in Providence, R.I. She graduated from Brown, received a master’s degree in secondary science education from Columbia and a law degree from Fordham.
She is the daughter of Indrani Chakrabarti of Cockeysville, Md., and the late Tapobrata Chakrabarti. The bride’s father was the vice president of George William Stephens Jr. and Associates, an engineering consulting firm in Belcamp, Md. Her mother was a stay-at-home parent and is now a freelance interpreter for Bengali and Hindi in the Maryland court system.
Mr. Stroupe, 39, is the senior director for accounting and compliance at Fox Television Stations in New York. He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he also received a master’s degree in accounting.
He the son of Anita F. Stroupe and Lee W. Stroupe of Boone, N.C. The groom’s mother, who is retired, was a psychiatric social worker at New River Behavioral Health in Boone. His father is a retired science teacher and wrestling coach for Watauga High School in Boone.
The couple met in 2016 in New York, through the now-defunct start-up matchmaking service Dating Ring.
