Eat Offbeat, an organization that employs mainly refugee cooks for catering, is now offering a couple of picnic boxes: one with Syrian food and the other, vegan, with a mix of items from the Middle East and Asia. The kits, which come in a cooler bag, include ingredients for stuffing pita pockets with chicken or cauliflower shawarma and toppings, a fattoush or mango salad, dips and spreads with pita chips and drinks. The picnics serve six to eight for $84, including delivery in the five boroughs and a 10 percent donation to Raices, the Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services. Additional items like snacks and desserts are also sold.
