Paulene Beth Meyers and Robert Alexander Underwood were married June 22 at the Bordone, an events space in Long Island City, Queens. Alex Meyers, the brother of the bride who became a Universal Life minister for the event, officiated.
Mrs. Underwood, who is 30 and works in New York, is the director of technology projects at Relay Graduate School of Education, which provides training for teachers and school leaders. She graduated from Stanford and received a master’s degree in public policy from Harvard and a master’s in education from Hunter College.
She is the daughter of Janet B. Meyers and Andrew H. Meyers of Roslyn, N.Y. The bride’s father is the president and chief executive of Eschen Prosthetic and Orthotic Labs, a New York-based service provider of braces and artificial limbs. Her mother was a stay-at-home parent.
Mr. Underwood, 31, is an associate specializing in executive compensation and employee benefits at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton, a law firm in New York. He graduated from Yale and received a law degree from the University of California, Berkeley.
He is a son of Kerry B. Underwood and Richard C. Underwood of Phoenix. The groom’s mother retired as an adoption lawyer in private practice in Phoenix. His father is a partner in Ryan Rapp & Underwood, a law firm in Phoenix. The groom’s father also served as a law clerk to former Chief Justice Fred C. Struckmeyer of the Arizona Supreme Court.
The couple met in 2012 at a party in Palo Alto, Calif., hosted by the groom’s brother and the bride’s college roommate, who are now married.
