Natasha Minh Hang Nguyen and Alexander Guy Davis were married April 27 at House Family Vineyards in Saratoga, Calif. Richard S. Davis, the groom’s father, who became a Universal Life Minister for the occasion, officiated.
Mrs. Davis, 28, is a technical account manager at Coursera, an online education platform in Mountain View, Calif., that provides access to courses from universities and companies. She graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, and received a master’s degree in gender studies from the London School of Economics.
She is a daughter of Kim Dung Dang and Duc Long Nguyen of Cupertino, Calif. The bride’s father is a senior software developer at Juniper Networks in Sunnyvale, Calif., a maker of routers and switches for the telecommunications industry. Until 2018, her mother was a computer programmer at IMI, a database service and data processing firm in San Jose, Calif., focusing on marketing.
Mr. Davis, 37, is a senior litigation associate at the Palo Alto, Calif., office of Baker McKenzie, the Chicago-based law firm. He graduated cum laude from Columbia with degrees in music and German, and received a law degree from Harvard.
He is the son of Rita E. Davis and Mr. Davis of Bryn Mawr, Pa. The groom’s mother is the chair of the modern languages department and teaches French at the Agnes Irwin School, a girls’ private independent college preparatory day school from prekindergarten through Grade 12 in Rosemont, Pa. She is a vice president of the American Association of Teachers of French in Marion, Ill. His father, who is retired, is professor emeritus of anthropology at Bryn Mawr College. He is on the board of the Harriton Association, which maintains 1704 Harriton House, a historic property in Lower Merion Township, Pa.
Ms. Nguyen formally introduced herself to Mr. Davis in September 2014 during her round of goodbyes before leaving the San Francisco law firm, where they had both worked. Ms. Nguyen, who was going to London for graduate studies, had been a project assistant and he a junior associate. In August 2015, after she returned to California, Mr. Davis asked her to join him for lunch, and they soon began dating.
