Marian Jane Hennessy-Fiske and Jeffrey Hill Moran were married Oct. 19 at the Hotel Galvez in Galveston, Texas. Rabbi Nikki DeBlosi officiated.
The bride, who is 42 and known as Molly, is the Houston bureau chief for The Los Angeles Times. She has reported nationally from Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Mexico and Nepal, among other countries. She graduated magna cum laude from Harvard.
She is a daughter of Rosemary Hennessy of Missouri City, Texas, and Fred M. Fiske of Minoa, N.Y. The bride’s father is a retired journalist and former editorial page editor of The Syracuse Post-Standard. Her mother is the L. H. Favrot professor of the humanities and English department chair at Rice University. The bride is a stepdaughter of Martha Ojeda, who is a Missouri City-based labor organizer who works on national campaigns to end wage theft. She is also a stepdaughter of Chris Fiske, a retired registered nurse in Syracuse. Chrys Ingraham of Syracuse, N.Y., who also helped raise the bride as a longtime partner of the bride’s mother, is a professor of sociology at the State University of New York at Purchase.
The groom, 48, is a senior manager of software application development at United Airlines in Houston. He graduated from the University of Houston.
He is a son of Kay Lynn Moran and Richard G. Moran of Oakwood, Texas. The groom’s mother is the department chair of teacher education at Tyler Junior College in Tyler, Texas. His father was director of procurement at Wyman-Gordon, a designer and manufacturer of metal components in Houston.
The groom’s first marriage ended in divorce.
The couple met through the dating app OkCupid in February 2018.
