When their first child died 38 days after being born, Monica Wesolowska and her husband were united by grief. Thinking that they could get through anything, they jokingly referred to regular family life as “parenting lite.” Ten years and two healthy children later, they realized that a bigger test of their marriage was not tragedy but mundanity.
On this week’s Modern Love podcast, the actress Ginnifer Goodwin reads Ms. Wesolowska’s essay, “Clinging to Each Other, We Survived the Storm.” Ms. Goodwin is known for her roles on the TV shows “Big Love” and “Once Upon a Time.” She appears most recently in Jordan Peele’s remake of “The Twilight Zone.”
Ms. Wesolowska is a writer, editor and teacher. Her memoir about losing her child is “Holding Silvan: A Brief Life.” Stay tuned after the reading to hear more from her, Ms. Goodwin and the Modern Love editor Daniel Jones.
