Michelle Alexandra Recto and Kevin Kulshrestha were married April 4 at the Rock Creek Park in Washington. The couple received permission and obtained a marriage license from the District of Columbia Marriage Bureau to self-unite. They had originally planned to wed at the Benjamin Brown Graham Memorial Chapel at Washington University in St. Louis before the Centers for Disease Control recommended that events with 50 or more be postponed. They plan to have another ceremony there April 17, 2021.
The couple met at Washington University in St. Louis, from which each graduated, the bride magna cum laude.
Ms. Recto, 25, is a fourth-year medical student at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore. In June, she is to start a residency in pediatrics at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.
She is a daughter of Dr. Carla Maria P. Alcid and Dr. Michael R. O. Recto of Irvine, Calif. The bride’s father is a pediatric interventional cardiologist and the medical director of pediatric cardiology at the Children’s Hospital of Orange County in Orange, Calif. Her mother is a pediatric emergency medicine physician at the Children’s Hospital of Orange County in Orange.
Mr. Kulshrestha, also 25, is a fourth-year medical student at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. In June, he is to start as residency in general surgery at the University of Cincinnati.
He is a son of Kunjamma Kulshrestha and Dr. Pankaj Kulshrestha of Bloomfield, Conn. The groom’s mother is a stay-at-home-parent. His father is a cardiothoracic surgeon at the St. Francis Medical Center in Hartford, Conn.
