Michele Nhung Tran and Timothy Michael Stevens were married June 8 at Pier A Harbor House, an events space in Manhattan. Dr. Khoa Tran, the bride’s brother who became a Universal Life minister for the event, officiated.
Ms. Tran, 32, is an assistant principal of special education at the James Madison High School in Brooklyn. She graduated from Amherst College and received a master’s degree in educational leadership from the Bank Street College of Education in Manhattan.
She is the daughter of Hung T. Tran and Nho T. Nguyen of Burlington, Mass.
Mr. Stevens, 35, is a director of enterprise strategy at American Express in Manhattan. He graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point. From 2005 to 2010, he was a captain in the Army in the Third Infantry Division; he was deployed for two tours in Iraq. He received an M.B.A. from Columbia.
He is the son of the late Charlene S. Herpel of Chestertown, Md., and the late James G. Stevens of Pasadena, Md.
The couple met in 2013 through mutual friends at Wren, a bar in Manhattan.
