Michele Elyse Shannon and Eric Russell Barber-Mingo are to be married Oct. 7 at La Piazza, an events space in Blauvelt, N.Y. Bishop J. Gregory Thorpe, who was ordained through the Victory Tabernacle of Deliverance, is to officiate.
Dr. Shannon, 51, is the vice president for district leadership services at the New York City Leadership Academy in Long Island City, Queens. She graduated from Baruch College and received a master’s degree in social work at Hunter College. She also received a Doctor of Education Leadership from Harvard.
She is the daughter of the late Marjorie Shannon and the late William D. C. Shannon, Jr., who lived in South Ozone Park, Queens.
Mr. Barber-Mingo, 49, is a lawyer in Chelmsford, Mass. He graduated cum laude from Columbia, and received a law degree from Harvard.
He is a son of the late Mettazee Mingo and the late Herbert Mingo, who lived in Washington Heights.
The groom was a widower.
The couple met online in November 2016.
