Michael Joseph Middleton and Steven Jared Salee were married Nov. 17 at Roosevelt House, the Manhattan home of Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt, now the Public Policy Institute at Hunter College. Gerry Valentine, a Universal Life minister and friend of the couple, officiated.
Dr. Middleton (left), 53, is the Klara and Larry Silverstein Dean of the School of Education at Hunter College. He graduated from Harvard, from which he also received a master’s degree in education. He also has a Ph.D. in education and psychology from the University of Michigan.
He is a son of the late Barbara M. Middleton and the late George F. Middleton Sr., who lived in Peabody, Mass. His mother owned and operated Young World Nursery School in Salem, Mass. His father was a computer systems analyst at HP Hood’s Dairy, a milk and dairy company in the Charlestown section of Boston.
Mr. Salee, 51, is the founding partner in Wildfire Strategies, a leadership coaching firm in New York specializing in health care. He graduated from Brown and holds two masters degrees from Columbia, one in social work and the other in public administration.
He is the son of Adrian M. Salee of West Palm Beach, Fla., and the late Juliet L. Stein. His mother retired as the vice president of the Bayport Lumber Company in Bayport, N.Y. His father, who worked in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., retired as a management consultant there. Mr. Salee is also the stepson of Alice F. Salee.
Mr. Salee’s first marriage ended in divorce.
The couple met in 2012 in Provincetown, Mass., and met there again in 2014, and began dating.
