Melissa Sarah Brenner and Maxwell James Roosevelt were married Nov. 9 at the Palm House at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. Rabbi Elliot Strom officiated.
Mrs. Roosevelt, who is 30 and works in Manhattan, is in-house counsel for the investment bank of Barclays. She graduated from the University of Maryland, and received a law degree magna cum laude from Boston College.
She is the daughter of Donna Brenner and Michael Brenner of Holland, Pa. The bride’s father is a partner in SD Associates, a public accounting practice in Elkins Park, Pa. Her mother retired as a vice president for enterprise risk management at the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia.
Mr. Roosevelt, 31, is the director of strategy at The New York Times. He is also an associate board member of Minds Matter New York City, a nonprofit organization focused on helping students in underserved schools succeed in college. He graduated from the University of Maryland.
He is a son of Vicki B. Roosevelt of South Salem, N.Y., and Philip J. Roosevelt of Manhattan. The groom’s mother is the founder of West Orchard Labradoodles in South Salem. His father is a managing editor at Barron’s, and is also the chairman of the board of the Young Memorial Cemetery, the resting place of Theodore Roosevelt.
Though the couple graduated from the University of Maryland, they met several years later at a bar in Manhattan.
