Mary Kabir Seraj and Gregory Thomas Schwartz Bischoping were married Aug. 24 at the Roman Catholic Parish of Our Saviour in New York. The Rev. Robert J. Robbins performed the ceremony.
In September, Ms. Seraj, 27, is to begin as a first-year business finance and restructuring associate at Weil, Gotshal & Manges, a law firm in New York. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of California, Los Angeles, and received a law degree from the University of Virginia.
She is a daughter of Nahid Y. Seraj and Habib K. Seraj of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif. The bride’s father is a linguist working with the Department of Defense in Central Asia. Her mother was a stay-at-home parent.
She is a great-granddaughter of King Inayatullah Khan, a former king of Afghanistan.
Mr. Bischoping, 26, is to begin in September as a second-year litigation associate at Covington & Burling, a law firm in New York. He graduated from Boston College and received a law degree cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania.
He is the son of Susan E. Schwartz and Brian T. Bischoping of Rochester. The groom’s mother is a retired elementary school psychologist with the Rochester City School District. His father is a mechanical engineer for Delphi Technologies, an automotive components manufacturer in West Henrietta, N.Y.
The couple met in 2017 at the 34th annual University of Virginia Law Softball Invitational, an event attended by many East Coast law students.
