Mark Anthony Lowe and Stephen Michael Noonan were married Aug. 16 at the Harvard Club of New York City. The Rev. Susan R. Ironside, a rector at the Grace Episcopal Church in Madison, N.J., officiated.
Mr. Lowe (left), 58, is a social studies and writing teacher at the Ohrenberger School in West Roxbury, Mass. He graduated from Harvard and received a law degree from the University of Michigan. He also received a master’s degree in elementary education from Endicott College and a master’s degree in secondary education from the University of Massachusetts.
He is a son of the late Elouise D. Lowe and the late John J. Lowe, who lived in Decatur, Ga. His mother was a stay-at-home parent. His father retired as a courier for the Purolator Corporation, a package delivery company in Boston.
Mr. Noonan, 57 is the founding principal of the Maxine Greene High School for Imaginative Inquiry in New York. He graduated from Saint Louis University and received a master’s degree in urban affairs from Hunter College. He also received a master’s degree in teaching from Fordham and a master’s degree in school administration and supervision from Mercy College.
He is a son of Gabrielle C. Noonan of St. Louis, and the late Thomas M. Noonan. His mother retired as a religion and theology teacher at St. Joseph’s Academy in Frontenac, Mo. His father retired as the vice chairman of Commerce Bancshares, a bank holding company in St. Louis.
Mr. Noonan was a widower.
The couple met in 1987 at a Detroit nightclub and reconnected in 2015, the year following the death of Mr. Noonan’s husband. Mr. Noonan wrote Mr. Lowe a letter while Mr. Lowe was traveling in Europe.
