Mariko Mae Ashley and Michael Ye Han were married May 24 by Paula Brownhill, a judge at the Clatsop County Circuit Courthouse in Astoria, Ore.
The bride, 30, works in San Francisco as a labor and employment lawyer for Jackson Lewis a law firm based in White Plains. She graduated from Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Mass., and received a law degree from Cornell.
She is the daughter of Kathryn L. Chan of Portland, Ore. The bride’s mother, who is retired, was an elementary schoolteacher at Elmonica Elementary School in Beaverton, Ore.
The groom, 32, works in San Francisco as an algorithms research scientist at FutureAdvisor, a division of BlackRock, the investment firm based in New York. He graduated from the University of Michigan and received a master’s degree in computational finance from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh.
He is the son of Linda X. Cheng and Bo Han of Westland, Mich. The groom’s mother, who is retired, was an associate chief editor of Teaching and Research, an academic journal from Renmin University of China in Beijing. She was also a software engineer for American Blinds in Livonia, Mich. The groom’s father is a mechanical engineer for Chery Automobile Company in Wuhu, China.
The couple met in 2013 through a mutual friend in New York.
