Marichal Lynn MacDonald and Aman Gupta were married Oct. 19. Pandit Prabhakar Sharma, a Hindu priest, officiated at the Mandarin Oriental in New York.
Mrs. Gupta, 28, is a talent-acquisition principal at Via, a ride-sharing service in New York. She graduated summa cum laude from Dickinson College.
She is the daughter of Robin M. Lenz and Michael D. MacDonald, both of Williamstown, Mass. The bride’s father is the Frederick L. Schuman Professor of International Relations at Williams College. Her mother was the owner and chef of Robin’s Restaurant, which was in Williamstown, before becoming a stay-at-home parent. The bride is also the stepdaughter of Mary Alvord MacDonald, who is the principal of Mount Greylock Regional School in Williamstown.
Mr. Gupta, 35, is a partner, in Summit, N.J., in the Boston Consulting Group, and advises consumer packaged-goods industry clients. He graduated from Tufts, and received an M.B.A. from N.Y.U.
He is a son of Anita Gupta and Ashwini K. Gupta of New York. The groom’s father retired as the chief risk officer at the American Express Company, and is now the chairman of Corridor Platforms, a mobile-payments platform in New York. The groom’s mother is a broker at Douglas Elliman Real Estate in New York.
The couple met in 2013 in New York at a recruiting event at N.Y.U. for the Boston Consulting Group. It was her first week at the firm, and she remembers that her manager, seeing that she was nervous about the event, told her to “find Aman. He’ll take care of you. You’ll be in good hands,” Ms. MacDonald said.
