Margaret Elizabeth Thornton and Nathan Bart Reeder were married June 29 at Nesselrod Bed and Breakfast in Radford, Va. The Rev. Rachel Wenner Gardner, an Episcopal priest, performed the ceremony.
The bride, 32, is studying for a Ph.D. in educational leadership and policy at the University of Virginia, from which she graduated and also received a master’s of education in secondary English curriculum and instruction.
She is the daughter of Juanita McLaughlin Thornton and Timothy W. Thornton of Shawsville, Va. The bride’s father is a writer and a recipient of the Phillip D. Reed Memorial Award for outstanding writing on the southern environment and the Virginia Press Association’s D. Lathan Mims Award. Her mother is a social worker and team leader at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Va.
The groom, 30, is an associate specializing in litigation at Duane Morris, a law firm in Philadelphia. He graduated summa cum laude from Emory University, and received a law degree from the University of Virginia.
He is a son of Kathie Hall Reeder and Stephen C. Reeder of Social Circle, Ga. The groom’s mother retired as a kindergarten teacher at George Walton Academy, a private school in Monroe, Ga. His father, who worked in Griffin, Ga., retired as the senior vice president for performance chemicals at Koppers, a Pittsburgh-based integrated global producer of carbon compounds, chemicals, and treated wood products.
The couple met in 2016 through the dating app Tinder.
