Lucia Catalina Orejarena and Yaacov Binyamin Wittman are to be married Sept. 1 at Decatur House, a house museum in Washington. William F. Marshall, the bride’s uncle, is to receive temporary authorization from the District of Columbia Marriage Bureau to officiate.
The bride and groom, both 27, met at George Washington University, from which each graduated, he summa cum laude.
Ms. Orejarena, 27, is an associate marketing manager of digital retention at The Washington Post.
She is the daughter of Patricia L. Marshall and Juan Carlos Orejarena of Guatemala City. The bride’s father works in Guatemala City as an online adjunct professor in business at Kean University in Union, N.J. Her mother is the general director of the American School of Guatemala in Guatemala City.
Mr. Wittman, 27, who is known as Coby, is a Ph.D. candidate in economics at the University of Pennsylvania.
He is a son of Risa S. Wittman and Peretz D. Wittman of Cherry Hill, N.J. The groom’s mother is a contract photographer in Cherry Hill for HomeVisit, a real estate photography company based in Chantilly, Va. In 1982, she was an assistant to the official photographer covering vice president George H.W. Bush in Washington. His father is a software quality assurance consultant at Wipro Technologies, a multinational technology corporation.
