Tiny Love Stories began in October 2018 as a friendly challenge to readers of The New York Times: Modern Love editor Daniel Jones and I asked readers to share a true love story from their lives — happy or sad, capturing a moment or a lifetime — in no more than 100 words.
The result? Thousands of clever and surprising submissions from people around the world.
For the last three years, we’ve continued to solicit and publish these short stories online. Despite their small size, they pack an emotional punch. One Tiny Love Story, “Strangers on a Train,” even inspired an episode in the second season of the “Modern Love” TV series on Prime Video.
To celebrate our mighty Tiny Love Stories, we rounded up 10 of the most poignant, funny and poetic pieces we have published. If you’re looking for even more, we also have a book.
Read as many as you like and consider submitting one yourself!
