Is Louis Vuitton recruiting BTS to its army or does it work in reverse? Announced today, the famed Parisian atelier named the South Korean pop group the newest house ambassadors, and Twitter came to a screeching halt. This marks the first time the entire band is signing on together for a major designer house (not counting their recent Mcdonald’s news, of course).
“Becoming global brand ambassadors for Louis Vuitton is a truly exciting moment for us,” BTS said in the press release. “We are excited for our upcoming projects with Virgil Abloh.”
From their ’70s aesthetic in “Dynamite” to their coordinating ensembles on stage to dancing in rubber slides, BTS is no stranger to the style game. They’ve maintained a fashion cred that matches their status as the biggest music artists in the world. It’s no surprise that they are teaming up with Louis Vuitton to further their world domination. (The band also hinted at the partnership when they wore Louis Vuitton to this year’s Grammy Awards.)
“I am delighted BTS are joining Louis Vuitton today,” Abloh, the men’s artistic director, said in a statement. “I am looking forward to this wonderful partnership which adds a modern chapter to the House, merging luxury and contemporary culture. I can’t wait to share all the very exciting projects we are working on.”
Only one question that remains: Who’s your bias now?
