Lily Shiran Huang and Evan Schmidt Chase were married Oct. 26 at Villa Del Lago in Austin, Texas. Gregory W. Chase, the groom’s father and a Universal Life minister, officiated.
The bride, 29, is an associate at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, a law firm in New York. She graduated from Duke and received a law degree from the University of Virginia.
She is a daughter of Jing Leng and Alex Qin Huang of Austin. The bride’s father is the Dula D. Cockrell Centennial Chair in Engineering at the University of Texas, Austin. Her mother retired as research scientist at North Carolina State in Raleigh.
The groom, 36, is a vice president of Goldman Sachs in Manhattan. He graduated from Rhodes College in Memphis and received a law degree and M.B.A. from Duke.
He is the son of Dr. Amy Schmidt and Mr. Chase of Albuquerque. The groom’s mother is a family physician in private practice in Albuquerque. His father is a lawyer in private practice, also in Albuquerque.
The two met in 2011 when they were interns at the Zhong Lun Law Firm in Beijing. They shared one awkward lunch together before the groom’s internship ended, but reconnected upon their return to Duke.
