Lillian Cunningham and Jim Tankersley were married June 24 at Theodore Roosevelt County Park in Montauk, N.Y. The Rev. Nathan A. Barczi, a Presbyterian minister who is a college friend of the groom, officiated.
Ms. Cunningham, 35, is a journalist at The Washington Post, where she has created and hosted several podcasts on American history, including “Moonrise,” “Presidential” and “Constitutional.” She graduated with general honors from the University of Chicago, and received a master’s degree in journalism from Northwestern.
She is a daughter of Christine V. Cunningham and Richard E. Cunningham of New York.
The groom, 41, is a domestic correspondent in the Washington bureau of The New York Times, where he covers taxes and economic policy. He graduated from Stanford.
He is a son of Janet Ficken Tankersley and Thomas C. Tankersley of McMinnville, Oregon.
The groom’s previous marriage ended in divorce.
The couple met in 2014 while both were working in the financial section of The Post. They got to know each other a bit better two years later after Ms. Cunningham interviewed Mr. Tankersley on the economics of pre-Civil War America for her “Presidential” podcast series. Their first date was at Teddy and the Bully Bar, a Theodore Roosevelt-themed restaurant in Washington.
