Leslie Adriel Mayes and Kerwin Richard Low were married Oct. 12 in Hartford, Conn. The Rev. Dion J. Watkins, a Baptist minister, officiated at the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art.
Mrs. Low, 35, is a general assignment reporter and a fill-in anchor at WVIT, an NBC station in West Hartford, Conn., that is known as NBC Connecticut. She graduated from St. John’s University in Jamaica, Queens.
She is a daughter of Geraldine Thompson Mayes and Stanley J. Mayes of Washington. The bride’s father is the owner of Divine Shine, a shoe repair and leather-care business in Washington. He is also a member of the District of Columbia Democratic State Committee. Her mother retired as a restaurant manager for Marriott, the hospitality company, at several dining halls at Georgetown University.
Dr. Low, 34, is an aerospace engineer at Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford, Conn. He graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and received a doctoral degree in mechanical and aerospace engineering from Syracuse.
He is a son of Deborah E. Low and Edwin R. Low of Brooklyn. The groom’s mother is the office manager at Rosetta Radiology, a medical practice in Manhattan. His father is a caregiver for three of his grandchildren.
The couple met in 2016 after being set up by a mutual friend, and had their first date in New Haven, Conn.
