What do I love most about Thanksgiving? Let me think…food, family, football, fashion—no, that wasn’t a slip of my keyboard. Fashion! While some might disagree, I like to think every day as my runway, and the feast-filled holiday is no exception. With that spirit in mind, I pulled together a shoppable mood board of the best Thanksgiving outfits.
Who says the holiday has to be reduced to frumpy sweaters and tired colors? Below, you’ll find a bit of everything: gorgeous suede bags, elevated knitwear, trending colors and prints, unexpected accessories, and tons of inspiration to create the perfect fall ensemble. In my opinion, if you have to argue about politics, answer questions about your love life (or lack thereof), or bump into an ex in your hometown, you might as well look fabulous while doing so. Ahead, see everything I’ll be wearing this November.
Trendy Fringe
The fringe! The leather! The drama! Make an entrance in a frilly piece with lots of movement and body. Add in a chunky boot, like my favorite pair below.
Menswear Inspired
Keeping with that theme, you don’t have to rock a form-fitting outfit for the big meal. Opt for dramatic and oversized silhouettes, and lean into the color of the season with a delicious chocolate brown hue. Bonus points for layering a white tee underneath; find my absolute favorite one below.
Bermuda Beauty
I’ve been loving styling a loose short with a feminine heel. Two seemingly different pieces somehow work so well together.
I didn’t expect the necktie to become my favorite accessory this season, but there’s something so powerful about them that really draws me in. It’s also a very simple way to bring pattern and color to a muted or monochrome look.
A Statement Coat
Go incognito under a big, beautiful coat. These are perfect for secretly running to the grocery or wine store in your pajamas. No one has to know what’s underneath.
Head-to-Toe Denim
As a staunch fan of Canadian tuxedos, this look is really doing it for me. A loose denim set paired with a suede clog is so elevated yet so comfortable.
Pass the Cranberry
When I’m in a food coma, the only thing I want to be wearing is something roomy. My tip is to sport loose clothes in an on-trend color or fabric. Cranberry is about as thematic as you can get for Thanksgiving.
Bright Pop
As someone who truly lives in dark colors, adding a bright base layer brings contrast, depth, and life to a look. I usually shy away from the color purple, but it works really well here.
Simple Cardigan
If you want to take a more understated route, a high-quality sweater and sleek pant is really all you need. Your basics don’t have to be boring!
Western Twist
I call this one “cowgirl chic.” I couldn’t resist adding a modern bolo tie and silver-trimmed snip toe boots to bring the look together. Oh, and Miu Miu hair clips to match, of course.
Old Favorites
Still loving that piece you wore last spring? Don’t store it away just yet. Instead, throw a turtleneck underneath, and pair it with a dark jean. Suddenly, you’ve transformed your piece from one season to the next.
Leather Trench
Why not make bring some hot attitude to the table? You might not have contributed much in the kitchen, but this green frock and zebra bag are a feast for the eyes.
Silk & Sheer
While I probably wouldn’t choose this look to spend the holiday with grandparents or in-laws, this combination of a silky tunic and semi-sheer maxi would be beyond perfect for friendsgiving.
Layered Dressing
If you can’t decide whether you want to dress up or down, throwing a fun tee or rugby shirt under a dress is the perfect solution. When in doubt, layer.
Cow Print
It seems like every stylist I follow on Instagram has been sporting this cowhide jacket, so they must be onto something. Wear it over a plain white tank and pants to give it the moment it truly deserves.
Knit Dress
Sometimes less is more, so a simple blazer thrown over a white dress works effortlessly. In case you’re spending your first big occasion with a significant other’s family, you can’t go wrong with this look. Impress them with style, and it’ll be smooth sailing (hopefully).
