Dr. Laura Lynn Megorden and Dr. Wade Thomas Walker were married Nov. 2 at Arizona Rustic Weddings at Frontier Town in Cave Creek, Ariz. The Rev. Daniel J. Megorden, the bride’s father and a minister of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, officiated.
Dr. Megorden, 32, a board certified podiatrist, works at Lags Medical Centers, a sports medicine and pain management group practice in Santa Maria, Calif. She graduated from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn., and received a doctorate of podiatric medicine from Temple University.
She is a daughter of Mary Thorston Megorden and Mr. Megorden of Cass Lake, Minn., and Mesa, Ariz. The bride’s father recently retired as the senior pastor of Desert Cross Lutheran Church in Tempe, Az. Her mother, a registered nurse, works per diem in the recovery room at Arizona Spine & Joint Hospital in Mesa.
Dr. Walker, 34, a board certified veterinarian, is a staff surgeon specializing in equine surgery at the Alamo Pintado Equine Medical Center in Los Olivos, Calif. He graduated cum laude from Colorado State University, from which he also received a degree in veterinary medicine.
He is a son of Teresa M. Walker and Dr. Warren W. Walker of La Cañada Flintridge, Calif. The groom’s mother is on the La Cañada Flintridge City Council, and until March served as its mayor. His father, a small animal veterinarian, owns and practices at La Cañada Pet Clinic there.
The couple were introduced in 2016 through the Bumble dating app, and soon met for drinks at the Henry, a restaurant in Phoenix. They connected over their love of Arizona — desert living, hiking, camping and the cactuses.
