Laura Elizabeth Hatchman and John Arthur Dearborn were married May 11 at the Branford House, a mansion in Groton, Conn. The Rev. Elise Hanley, an Episcopal priest, officiated.
The couple met at the University of Connecticut in Storrs, from which they both graduated summa cum laude.
Ms. Hatchman, 28, will be starting in June as a family medicine resident at Penn Medicine Lancaster General Hospital in Lancaster, Pa. She is to receive her medical degree this month from the UConn School of Medicine in Farmington.
The bride is a daughter of Diane L. Hatchman and Jeffrey W. Hatchman of Norwalk, Conn. The bride’s father, who is retired, was a vice president at New York Life, a life insurance company based in New York. The bride’s mother works in Norwalk as a location coordinator guide at WW, formerly known as Weight Watchers, a health and wellness company based in New York.
Mr. Dearborn, 27, will be starting in July as a postdoctoral associate at the Yale Center for the Study of Representative Institutions in New Haven. He is to receive a Ph.D. in political science from Yale this month.
The groom is the son of Betsy V. Dearborn and John B. Dearborn of Ansonia, Conn. The groom’s mother was a stay-at-home parent. She worked until 1991 in Hamden, Conn., as an account executive for Clear Channel Communications, now iHeartMedia, a media and entertainment company based in San Antonio. The groom’s father is an aeronautical engineer at Pratt & Whitney, an aerospace manufacturer based in East Hartford, Conn.
