When news broke in July that Kyle Richards, a star of Bravo’s “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” and her husband, Mauricio Umansky, a real estate agent and a star of Netflix’s “Buying Beverly Hills,” were separating, reality TV fans despaired.
The married couple of 27 years has for nearly half of that time appeared on television, their relationship remaining seemingly unshaken by the spoils of fame. Now, with their separation set to play out on screens across the country, interest in what may happen next for the couple is heating up.
Who are they?
Ms. Richards is an actress and a reality TV personality who has been a main cast member on “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” since its first season in 2010. On the show she has talked openly about raising her four daughters (her eldest from a previous marriage) and her many fallouts with her sisters, Kim Richards and Kathy Hilton, the mother of Paris and Nicky Hilton.
Mr. Umansky is a founder and the chief executive of the Agency, an international real-estate company. His work for that business is the focus of “Buying Beverly Hills,” which is returning for a second season in March.
They were married in 1996 and have three children together.
What’s going on with their marriage?
After Mr. Umansky was spotted without his wedding ring, rumors that the two were getting divorced circulated online and were refuted by both Mr. Umansky and Ms. Richards. “We’re not getting divorced,” he said in April 2023 on the podcast Two T’s in a Pod.
Three months later, People magazine reported that they were separated. The day the article was published, the couple shared a joint statement on Instagram.
