Kimberly Michelle Glerum and Dr. Samuel Morrison Miller were married Aug. 9 at the Inn at Longshore in Westport, Conn. Rolf D. Glerum, the bride’s paternal grandfather who is a Universal Life minister, officiated at a ceremony including Jewish elements.
The couple met at Brown, from which each graduated, she magna cum laude, and from which he also received a medical degree. She is currently a fourth-year medical student there.
Ms. Glerum, 26, is a daughter of Alison S. Glerum and Eric C. Glerum of Weston, Conn. The bride’s father is based in Weston as a senior director of business development at CBRE, a real estate services company. Her mother, an independent Orton-Gillingham practitioner, tutors children with dyslexia in Fairfield County.
Dr. Miller, 30, is a second-year resident in general surgery at Yale.
He is a son of Marjorie Sachs and Dr. Daniel Miller of New Rochelle, N.Y. The groom’s mother is an independent consultant who teaches conflict resolution and songwriting at public schools in New Rochelle. She also plays keyboard and sings backup for various local music groups. His father, a family physician, is the chief of clinical integration and graduate medical education at Hudson River HealthCare; his practice is in Yonkers, N.Y. The groom’s grandfather, Joseph Miller, was the president and chief executive of the Miller Harness Company, an equestrian supplier that was based in New York.
The couple met in 2014 while playing on Brown’s club tennis team, when Ms. Glerum was a senior, and Dr. Miller was a first-year medical student. They both admire the tennis player Roger Federer so much that they invited him to their wedding. Mr. Federer, who graciously declined the invitation, sent them matching autographed hats as a gift.
