Kevin Michael Johnson and Zachary Stewart Clark were married June 8 at Mount Hope Farm in Bristol, R.I. Erik Dawe, a friend of the couple and a Universal Life minister, officiated.
Mr. Johnson (left), 37, is an architect and a partner in the Washington office of SmithGroup, a design firm. He graduated cum laude from Ball State University in Muncie, Ind., with bachelor’s degrees in architecture and in environmental design.
He is a son of Laurie M. Johnson and Dr. Peter L. Johnson of Indianapolis. Mr. Johnson’s mother retired as a secretary at Allisonville Elementary School in Indianapolis, which the groom attended. His father is a veterinarian who practices in Indianapolis.
Mr. Clark, 34, is the executive director of 826DC, the Washington chapter of a national network of youth-writing centers. He graduated magna cum laude from Brown and received a master’s degree in education from Harvard.
He is the son of Sandra L. Clark of Coventry, R.I., and Michael C. Clark of West Warwick, R.I. Mr. Clark’s mother is the legal assistant in the Providence, R.I., branch of the Federal Public Defender, which serves indigent criminal defendants. His father is a facilities custodian for the public schools of Coventry.
The couple met in 2014 through the dating app Tinder, and had their first date in Washington.
