Kerry Elizabeth White and Mark Christian Porter were married Sept. 7 at the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Washington. The Rev. Benjamin Hawley, a Roman Catholic priest, performed the ceremony.
Ms. White, 37, is a senior public affairs specialist at the Department of State in Washington. She graduated from Alfred University in Alfred, N.Y. and received a master’s degree in written and verbal arts from the University of Ulster, Magee Campus, in Derry, Northern Ireland, and a master’s in international development studies from George Washington University.
She is a daughter of Elizabeth J. White of Lewes, Del., and Vincent A. White of the Villages, Fla. The bride’s father, who is retired, was a police captain at the Clarkstown Police Department in New City, N.Y. Her mother, also retired, was a special-education teacher at Tappan Zee High School in Orangetown, N.Y.
Mr. Porter, 39, is a staff lawyer for the law firm WilmerHale in Washington, where he focuses on electronic discovery. He graduated from George Washington University and received a law degree from Syracuse.
He is the son of Margaret T. Porter and Dennis S. Porter of Sidney, N.Y. The groom’s mother, who is retired, was a sixth grade English teacher at Unatego Middle School in Otego, N.Y. His father is the executive director of the United Way of Sidney.
The couple met on Match.com in 2015.
